Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer/Business Development, you will provide a vital link between strategy and implementation by leading the development and implementation of wood industry sales of vacuum gripper material handling equipment. The role will require detailed focus and project management skills to follow all projects from inception to completion and achieve on-time customer promise dates. The role will support projects with relevant project management skills and scheduling, You will take an active role in projects as well as facilitate planning and executing by adding conceptual thinking and modeling.

You will

• Be responsible for the complete sales cycle, from lead generation to ensuring the sales transaction is a positive experience for customers.
• Be responsible for studying projects and providing offers with formal quotes through our CRM/ERP
• Understand customer needs and provide adequate solutions
• Testing and searching for the best technical and commercial solutions
• Promote sales of material handling & automation vacuum products within the market
• Develop channel partners for the growth of standardized offerings
• Provide technical support for company products
• Work with Joulin’s Engineering Department on systems and special quotes for Customers
• Product and final performance (QC) validation of projects
• Transfer of pertinent project information to the Design Engineer via verbal and Technical Data Documentation

You will report directly to the Sales Manager at Joulin, Vacuum Automation division, and the position is based in Hickory, NC. In this role, you will work closely with the other members of the management team and other departments central to the company as well as representatives of Piab and other groups of companies. You are required to act accordingly to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission, and routines. This role requires travel to both Piab and external parties’ global destinations when applicable. This position will work with customers in Eastern Canada as well as the US, with potential contacts in other areas.

Skills, Experience, and Educational Background

• Associate degree in engineering – mechanical or electrical or related field
• 2 years of experience in processing, material handling, and packaging equipment sales
• A strong background in identifying improvements within the manufacturing process
• Understand system cost considerations and work with others to present trade-offs for effective solutions
• Work within budgets and timelines relative to project tasks
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
• Effective communication skills: verbal and written
• General robotic, mechanical, and electrical knowledge
• Knowledge in Vacuum handling systems is a plus
• Wood industry experience is a plus
• Fluent in French and English is a plus
