This position works closely with the Director of Washington State Programs to plan, execute and manage student consulting projects, business education classes for entrepreneurs and other professionals, and work with tribal communities and tribal enterprises across the Pacific Northwest.
The Center’s core programs have undergraduate and MBA students work on consulting projects with small businesses in diverse communities and with other small businesses and non-profit organizations in Washington State. This position will oversee the daily program management of these projects representing the center with a broadly diverse group of students, faculty, business owners, and civic leaders This is a detail-oriented position and requires someone capable of multi-tasking and the ability to evaluate program effectiveness and continually improve program design and delivery. They must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead projects and programs for the center in collaboration with other staff
- Plan, execute and manage day-to-day operations of the projects and programs for the center, including our annual Impact Awards.
- Work with faculty to deliver business seminars and classes which will include, but not be limited to business education programs for Native American tribes and tribal enterprises. This work will include developing and executing marketing and promotions strategies to ensure sufficient enrollment levels.
- Assist the director in providing technical assistance to university partners across the US seeking to learn from the center's programs
- Evaluate existing programs to make sure they are adding to the competitiveness of businesses in underserved communities.
- Recruit students, volunteers, and small business participants for the programs
- Recruit UW students to participate in the center programs
- Recruit and manage volunteers who assist in the student consulting teams
- Secure sufficient small business and nonprofit participation in each program to insure that we meet and exceed donor requirements and to insure financial self-sufficiency for each program
- Expand partnerships with alumni and other key partners to continue to grow the programs
- Develop and administer the program’s budget
Help Coordinate fundraising activities for the center
- Assist the director and the director of Washington State programs in fund raising.
- Secure program sponsors for programs
- Produce reports for donors
- Deliver presentations about the center and its programs to business owners, CEO, nonprofit executives, civic leaders and elected officials
- Lead Responsibilities:
- The person hired for this position will have lead responsibilities for a number of programs. The lead responsibilities change from time to time given changes in the center's priorities and workload among other program managers. This position will lead experiential learning programs for undergraduate students, summer consulting programs, scholarship programs for students, and consulting competitions for undergraduate and MBA students.
- This position will lead business education programs with Tribes and Tribal enterprises in Washington and nationally. The person hired for this position will manage relationships with Tribal leaders and create partnerships with native tribes across the Pacific NW. This may include designing new programs that support native tribal enterprises within industry specific cohorts, such as timber, fisheries, and/or convenient stores.
