Description:
Small privately owned company looking for an experienced new product development chemist to join their team! If you have experience in product development in the CASE industry and are looking to join a growing organization, this could be a great fit for you! Duties:
- Product development of chemical coatings systems across the following technologies:
- Water based
- Solvent based
- 2 part reactive (Polyurethane, Epoxy)
- Alkyds
- UV Curable
- Performs wet chemistry bench work including sample development and analysis
- Executes standardized testing of coatings systems to evaluate both performance and composition
- Conducts research on a project-specific basis as required
- Authors technical reports specific to research & development functions
- Manages product development from inception through lab scale development, production scaling, and commercialization
- Contributes to SOP generation
- Provides technical support to customers including onsite visits when necessary
- Interfaces with raw material and equipment suppliers
- Attends industry-related shows and technical seminars
- Surveys competitive technologies
- Able to life 50 lbs. on some frequency
- Contributes to a culture of safety, following protocols throughout the organization, and other internal policy / procedures
- Maintain working knowledge of ISO 9001 policies and procedures
Technical Qualifications:
- B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related
- 2+ years industry experience in formulation chemistry / product development
- Experience in formulating coatings, adhesives, sealants, and/or elastomers is preferred
- Experience and competence in technical writing / technical report authoring
- Experience with various lab instruments and test methods
