Work on the art department team making page layouts for the biweekly print edition of New York magazine.
Layout and traffic and close pages, working closely with editortal, photo, copy, and production teams.
Responsibilities include, laying out the Intelligencer section, featuring opinion columns, and late-breaking news packages.
Collaborate with the design director and art team to come up with clever visual solutions for feature articles and special sections, creating mood boards of art reference and artists for consideration.
Work closely with design leads on layouts for Strategist and Culture Pages.
Opportunity to work on features, packages, and other editorial or digital projects based on experience level.

WHO YOU ARE
Have a love of New York City
At least 3 years of experience in editorial design, in either in media or at a studio setting.
Have a passion and interest in typography, visual storytelling and layout problem solving.
A love of visual culture with an interest in finding illustration talent.
Have portfolio work that demonstrates ability to design complex page layouts and package stories creatively
The ability to work in a fast-paced, highly-collaborative work environment. You must be able to take feedback, communicate, listen to direction, and be flexible under tight deadlines.
Time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects.
A team player able to contribute to planning and the visual creative process with designers, photo editors, and editors.
A crafty designer that can make illustrations and design treatments that editorialize and improve pick up images
A love of print media and the excitement of working in a news-breaking environment.
Strong proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator; knowledge of k4 content management system is ideal but not required.
A utility player that's willing and able to work on both small & detailed tasks as well as larger, more in-depth projects.
