Pretrial Services Specialist

 

Description:

The Kentucky Judicial Branch is offering an exciting opportunity for a Pretrial Services Specialist (2nd Shift) in Madison County. This role is part of the Department of Pretrial Services, which upholds the constitutional rights of defendants by ensuring fair and reasonable pretrial release conditions.

This position plays a vital role in the criminal justice system by assessing defendants and making recommendations for pretrial release, supervision, or diversion programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Defendant Interviews: Conduct interviews within 24 hours of incarceration to assess eligibility for pretrial release.
Assessment & Recommendations: Complete required assessments and make pretrial release recommendations to trial courts.
Supervision & Monitoring: Oversee defendants released with conditions or diversion referrals, ensuring compliance.
Data & Reporting: Maintain detailed written reports, track compliance, and submit reports to courts and relevant authorities.
Court Appearances: Represent Pretrial Services in court as needed.
Community Resources: Connect defendants with resources for diversion and conditional release.
Data Entry: Enter information into the Pretrial Release Information Management System (PRIM).
Other Duties: Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (No experience required)

  • OR Associate's Degree + 2 years of job-related experience

  • OR High School Diploma + 4 years of job-related experience

Special Requirements:

  • Must pass FBI clearance to obtain NCIC certification.

  • Must be able to work inside a jail or detention center in the assigned county/counties.

  • Must maintain NCIC certification.

Working Conditions:

👥 Direct supervision and case management of adult criminal defendants/offenders.
🚗 Travel may be required.
