Description:

WonderTrek is currently seeking dependable and collaborative Playworkers to help us in bringing together the region’s children and families in shared experiences that are grounded locally and open to the wider world. In a collaborative, team-based environment, you will play a key role in creating a dynamic and welcoming environment for children to play, explore, and learn. Our team is enthusiastic about interacting with children of various ages and supporting their learning through play with dynamic, material-rich programs and events. Previous experience working with children, a background in education or development, and knowledge and enthusiasm for outdoor recreation are invaluable in creating a memorable experience for our young visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and interact with children, parents, educators, and other community members in a friendly and professional manner, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Facilitate children's play experiences by explaining materials and programs, encouraging exploration, and answering questions about the programming and the museum.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of programs, ensuring they are safe and appealing for children.
  • Develop and deliver educational programming and activities related to outdoor recreation, science, arts, and other content areas..
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of play areas, including the regular sanitization of toys, surfaces, and high-touch areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service to children, parents, educators, and caregivers, addressing any concerns or inquiries.
  • Collaborate with fellow Playworkers and museum staff to plan and coordinate special events and programs.
  • Stay up to date with current trends, research, and best practices in play-based learning and child development.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children in a professional setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and enthusiasm of outdoor recreation activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage and relate to children and their families.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining a focus on safety and child supervision.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends, and early evenings.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a willingness to travel within a 120-mile radius of Brainerd, MN is desired, but not required.
