Required Skills / Abilities
- Ability to work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Project Team, and the Business Area to drive safety, productivity, efficiency, and reliability performance of the site.
- Data analysis and tracking, systems integration, and reviews of both Air Products and external engineering standards experience
- Large rotating machinery, unit operations and controls systems experience, preferred
- Enjoy a mixture of field and office work
- Strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Be flexible with work hours during plant upsets and turnarounds
- Must be a self-starter with proven leadership abilities
Key Job Responsibilities
- The plant engineer will support site safety performance improvements, reduction of recordable injuries, Basic Safety Process compliance (BSP) and Process Safety Management (PSM) conformance. The safety responsibilities include Process Safety Information (PSI) management, including Management of Change (MOC) development/administration, P&ID management, and other PSI for the facility. Assist with tracking incident, PSSR, and audit action items to completion.
- Drive plant reliability initiatives for a wide variety of assets, equipment and systems. The plant engineer is a critical part of investigation and corrective action teams in cases of safety/reliability events and plant trips
- Develop, implement and support KPI monitoring at the plant level which includes production monitoring and work process development.
- Develop and support projects for the plant that aid in increased production, reliability and/or decreased costs. Work closely with maintenance, projects, controls, PPE and I&E teams to see projects to completion.
- Identify maintenance concerns, then develop and implement corrective and/or preventative measures.
- The plant engineer often assists in the resolution of long-term reliability and maintenance issues involving unusual corrosion, steam quality concerns, fouling of heat transfer surfaces, breakdown of insulation, and other chronic equipment and performance problems.
