Description:
The eligible list may be used for other permanent and temporary vacancies as they arise during the life of the list. Temporary appointment may lead to conversion to permanent appointment.
Examples of Duties
- Receives orientation and training in the function of public planning and pertinent research methods and techniques.
- Under direct supervision, assists in gathering land use information such as lot size, age of structure, tax valuation, etc.
- Performs assigned research and prepares simple narrative reports.
- Verifies or extracts and compiles information from journals, reports, and other resource documents.
- Assists in the tabulation of data involving the use of statistical concepts and formulae.
- May assist in analyzing collected data and preparing a report of findings.
- May perform simple drafting.
- Responds to inquiries or refers inquiries to appropriate individual.
- Assists in the review and processing of applications for various permits and approvals.
- Attends trainings and meetings with community groups, staff, individuals, other governmental agencies around the Island of Hawaii.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Training and Experience:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:
- graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in urban planning, geography, architecture, engineering, political science, sociology, economics, public administration, or a related field (attach a copy of your official college transcript to your application); and
- ability to travel independently to various geographic locations. This requirement may be fulfilled by the possession of a valid State of Hawai'i driver's license (Class 3), a valid comparable driver's license, or use of other means of transportation that meets position needs.
