Description:
thredUP is looking for a strategic partner to continue pushing the company’s payroll team towards world-class performance. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Payroll, you will support the payroll process and understand the local, state, and federal payroll laws. As the Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and timely; payroll system configurations are appropriately functioning; and training, leading, mentoring the payroll team. In this role you will demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail and have the ability to multitask while working in a high volume, dynamic environment.
In This Role You’ll Get To:
- Administer and coordinate daily operations of tasks in the payroll department
- Manage and review weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for accurate timely payment of employees, process payroll as needed
- Manage SOX compliance for all payroll processes
- Train, guide and mentor direct report/s on payroll processes
- Assist with payroll related general ledger needs and provide month-end reports to GL Accounting Team
- Support stock administration with taxation information and processing taxes related to stock compensation
- Manage reconciliation and funding of 401k contributions
- Ensure garnishments are processed accurately and timely
- Setup and removal of contractors in ADP
- Manage any pay card payment process, and review and approve manual checks
- Investigate and resolve escalated payroll issues, including work number issues
- File for state tax registrations and reconcile quarterly payroll tax returns, and manage Tax Tracer monitoring and resolution
- Manage Workers Compensation account setup for new states
- Oversight of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit Program (WOTC)
- Prepare necessary data for BLS Reporting
- Support all reporting, reconciliation, and audit requests, as needed
- Maintain ADP payroll system reports and protocols, Perform administrative functions within the payroll system, maintain policies and procedures related to payroll processing
- Apply strong knowledge and understanding of system integrations including inbound and outbound file set-up and maintenance
- Support all levels of management with professional, clear communication
- Prioritize multiple tasks and projects as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor degree desired
- CPP Certification desired
- 3+ years’ payroll leadership experience
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Workday and ADP preferred
- Multi-state payroll processing experience
- Experience using Microsoft Excel or Google sheets (Pivot tables, vLookups, concatenate, and basic formulas)
- Restricted stock and employee stock purchase plan experience preferred
