Description:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for various payroll activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance of internal controls and processes, processing payrolls timely and accurately, analyzing payroll results, systems and resolving problems and issues. This position requires strong attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and communicate key findings. We are looking for an exceptional team player who has a strong understanding of payroll who can work independently and partner with the Payroll, Human Resources, Benefits and HRIS teams.
Responsibilities
- Processing of U.S. bi-weekly & monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees completed timely and accurately. Includes processing of manual, adjustments, terminations or off-cycle payments.
- Participate in system maintenance and testing.
- Review, process and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards.
- Maintain employee data including hires and terms, employee changes, earnings, deductions and garnishments related to payroll processing via manual entry and uploads.
- Prepare and maintain related payroll files, records and reports to meet record retention requirements.
- Generate, audit, review and run ad-hoc and pre-established payroll reports and queries ensuring accurate and timely information. Create new reports as needed directly or in partnership with HRIS.
- Participate in the Federal, State & Local payroll quarterly and annual tax reconciliation, payment, filing and tax audits.
- Work with Finance team with payroll related account reconciliations.
- Analyze, audit and reconciliation of payroll to ensure accuracy in payroll output and vendor calculations.
- Identify, recommend and implement process or system improvements according to organization goals, policies and procedures, new laws and regulations.
- Respond to payroll inquires in a timely manner and raise identified payroll or compliance issues to management.
- Research and verify compliance with payroll requirements regarding taxes, laws and regulations.
- Interprets pay policies, (e.g., vacation, LOA, disability, workers compensation, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.) to ensure proper processing, payment and reporting.
- Verifies compliance with federal and state payroll requirements; stays current with changes in the law.
- Assist with audits of internal records, workers compensation, tax filings and related documentation.
- Documents payroll processes and procedures, including time and absence system.
- Backup to other department members as necessary.
- Participate in other projects or project teams as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Qualification
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Payroll.
- Substantial knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office products.
- Ability to show discretion with highly confidential information.
- Excellent communication, organizational, prioritization, analytical, process flows and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge with Payroll and Time applications.
- Working knowledge of payroll policies and practices.
- Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for
