Operations Manager

Join the Wonder Universe team and help us inspire learning, creativity, and play for children and families in the New River Valley! The Museum Operations Manager is the face of the museum welcoming guests and supporting open-ended, child-directed play experiences as they engage with the museum’s diverse exhibits.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise museum staff and ensure exceptional guest experience for all visitors.
• Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management (observe, recognize, and coach) on critical behaviors.
• Perform opening and closing duties as the manager on duty, including safe and secure procedures.
• Management of digital guest services system.
• Provide administrative support to include but not limited to daily financial reconciliation, facility cleaning and exhibit maintenance, supply inventory and ordering, and additional tasks as assigned.
• Attend regular staff meetings, sharing your experiences, skills, and ideas with the museum staff team.
• Provides guest services, responds to guest needs and communicates needs to the General Manager.
• Coordinate field trips, birthday parties, and other museum events as a point of contact for these activities.
• Facilitate special events and programming including some planning, day-of support, and registration assistance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends to meet the business needs of the museum.

Qualifications

Ideal candidate MUST be available to work weekends. Ideal candidates will have experience in the fields of early childhood education, psychology, or human development, with a contagious energy and enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and play. Preference is given to leaders with past leadership experience and/or administrative experience.

Candidates must have experience working with children of all abilities. Successful candidates will have experience managing staff behaviors and operational performance. Leaders should possess a strong passion for developing staff to engage with members and guests in a nurturing way.
