Operating Engineer I

 

Description:

The Operating Engineer I/II - Architectural is responsible for performing independently, tasks of a skilled nature, necessary for the operation, maintenance, repair and remodeling of Center buildings, grounds, and equipment. Must be proficient in architectural skills. Additionally, a working knowledge in at least two of the following areas: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, welding, HVAC, building automation, steam and hot water systems or refrigeration would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

Individual will be assigned primarily architectural and/or mechanical work orders and be expected to complete them independently; Including estimating the work both in terms of time and material, liaison with customers, executing the work and completing all the required paperwork, such as updating as-built drawings. Individual may also be assigned to work with and/or train apprentices.
Type of work to be performed includes the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Builds, repairs, and install counters, cabinets, benches, keyboard trays, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and trim.
  • Installs glass in windows, doors, and partitions.
  • Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile, and wall coverings.
  • Builds cabinets and other wooden equipment in carpenter shop.
  • Installs items such as window shades, venetian blinds, and curtain rods, wall fans, and door locks for tenants.
  • Minor Painting and drywall work

Qualifications:

OE I: A skilled professional who generally has over 5 years experience in carpentry, construction, or repair work or completion of at least two years of trade school and two years experience.
OE II: A skilled professional who has 3-4 years of experience in carpentry, construction, or repair work of one or more of the systems listed above.

  • Possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License
  • Physical skills necessary to climb, bend, stoop, lift and perform tasks utilizing ladders and scaffolds, ect
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Dependable, on-time and proven good work habits
  • Good communications skills
  • Able to work a varied schedule including shift work
  • High School diploma or equivalent
