Description:
Provide administrative and technical support and assistance to personnel & functions for the Metro Materials Office. This includes: Metro Inspection, Soils, Materials lab, and Independent Assurance Units:
- Answer phones, take Bituminous & Concrete plant inspection orders, enter into database, and communicate information to all stakeholders in timely and effective manner.
- Verify plant diaries and reports for accuracy and MCS compliance, send reports to plants & construction offices.
- Create and maintain databases & spreadsheets, create folders, files, and production logs, order plans.
- Conduct, analyze, and record searches of soils surveys, soils borings, pavement, and construction history.
- Order and maintain Materials office supplies & PPE cabinets, create and process EIOR’s
- Assist plant supervisors with setting up daily plant monitor assignment schedules and plant quantities.
- Acts as lead worker to oversee materials testing and office operations when supervisor is absent.
- When needed, completes Quality Assurance plant monitor activities for plants: Observes contractor quality control testing of bituminous and concrete verification samples, plant production, sampling and testing to ensure compliance with procedures and specifications as required by the schedule of materials control and special provisions.
- Completes analysis and interpretation of test results to determine if additional testing is required, and if materials meet specifications and tolerances.
- Monitors all quality control, certification procedures and products produced by those working on state projects or projects receiving federal or local funds.
- Obtains and submits audit and quality materials samples per SMC with completed sample ID cards to lab.
- Records bituminous and concrete field diary data in access database using a laptop computer.
- Performs various testing calculations, calculates QC test results and inputs data to generate reports and to ensure that test results can be retrieved electronically as needed.
Qualifications
The level of experience to perform this job at the TS level can be achieved with:
- Four years of experience performing materials testing.
