Nurse Assistant

Description:

Ochsner Health is looking for a Nurse Assistant to support the nursing team in providing basic patient care under direct supervision. The role involves constant patient observation, ensuring patient safety, and communicating changes in patient behavior or condition. The Nurse Assistant will perform tasks delegated by the nursing staff and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient patient care environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support the care plan delegated by the staff nurse, within scope of verified skills.

• Maintain a safe and clean patient care environment.

• Provide care that meets physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients, based on their age and condition.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare staff.

• Complete patient-related documentation accurately and timely.

• Adapt care to respect patient privacy and individual needs.

• Perform other duties as assigned and support the team in meeting care objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• Current state of practice Certification as a Nurse Assistant (CNA).

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).

• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Experience in a hospital or telemetry setting.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

• Medium work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.

• Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.

• Occupational risks include exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials due to the healthcare setting.
