Description:
Candidates are required to live in DC, Maryland or Northern, VA in order to be considered for this position as they will be onsite, in addition to traveling to various sites within the Baltimore area. This is non-negotiable.

Network Engineer responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Network and Cybersecurity engineering, design and implementation
- Cisco IOS - Routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, PfR, VPC, etc…)
- Cisco Wireless and Wire Environment through 802.1x, and other protocols (MAB) including BYOD, Guests (Web-auth) and Sponsor portals, profiling and posturing.
- Develop high availability, resiliency, contingency and recovery efforts and plans to ensure continuous availability and accessibility of network, security and infrastructure services.
- Reviews plans for accuracy, completeness, and content and ensures compliance with security and best practice requirements.
- Researches and identifies new solutions to automate/streamline the infrastructure and security in order to increase efficiencies
- Works with Information Security and Systems teams to ensure complete collaboration and transparency
- Mentors, teaches and trains junior personnel in network designs and architecture to ensure future requirements are planned for and met
- Determines the solution configuration needed to develop, modify, and implement the network architecture and operations that permit the effective sharing and transmission of information among customers.
- Develops recommendations that anticipate major effects on the IT systems and provide mitigation of adverse impacts.
- Researches and makes recommendations for the most appropriate types of assessment tools to use.
Lead responsibilities:
- Reinforce Clients Mission, Vision and Values statements.
- Collect, analyze, provide commentary to the Monthly Agency Metrics
- Engage/represent Infrastructure perspectives/insights in all meetings.
- Ensure Infrastructure team members have adequate and appropriate permissions to perform their duties across all Clients supported agencies.
- Review Infrastructure team members' timesheets by COB Wednesday of time entry (FTE's)
- Review Infrastructure team members' absence requests.
- Review Infrastructure team members' overtime requests.
- Develop succession plans for all roles and responsibilities.
- Continually review team members' current technical skills against the technologies that are planned/being deployed to ensure skillsets are relevant and provide value.
- Provide recommendations for Udemy technical training paths to Clients Infrastructure leadership/HR.
- The Infrastructure Manager must be/remain familiar with the Clients support agencies and physical locations.
- Schedule 1-on-1 meetings with Team Leads and/or team Staff.
- Collect, analyze, provide strategic direction to improve KPIs specific to Teams performance (individuals/teams)
- Forge/strengthen relationships across Clients Infrastructure teams.
- Forge/strengthen relationships across Clients organizations (InfoSec, Applications, PSSEC, etc.)
- Forge/strengthen relationships with identified points-of-contact within Clients supported agencies.
- Participate in the Manager On Duty (MOD) rotation
- Participate in leading the 8a "Daily Stand Up Call" rotation (daily)
- Provide data points/commentary and provide answers to questions for the Clients Stat meetings (monthly)
- Participate in Weekly Infrastructure Leadership meetings.
- Participate in the Infrastructure all hands leadership rotation.
- Participate in and/or provide resources for EOC activations as needed.
- Participate in On call rotations as appropriate
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- Five years of Network Engineer experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous IT work lead experience is preferred.
- Previous IT experience in government is preferred.
