Museum Director

 

Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops, implements, monitors, manages, and supervises museum operations with an established budget and set work plan.

2. Prepares, presents, and manages annual budget for short term and long-term objectives regarding staffing, operations, exhibits, and overall museum operations and improvements.

3. Works in coordination with other finance and grant management staff and outside organizations to identify and utilize alternative funding sources.

4. Assigns staff to special projects/events and provides guidance on priorities, timelines, and budget.

5. Oversees appropriate non-employee participation at the museum, including volunteers, interns, contractors, and consultants.

6. Responsible for ensuring the security, safety, and wellbeing of all Museum facilities and artifacts.

7. Maintains a professional, positive, organized approach to work, setting a good example to others around a common vision for the Museum.

8. Schedules, organizes and directs work plans, reviews performance of the Museum, and makes appropriate recommendations to museum board.

9. Participates on various work-related committees, work groups, and events representing the museum in a positive manner.

10. Responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Museum.

11. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA/BS in History, Native American Studies, Art, Archaeology, Anthropology, or Business Administration is preferred but not required.

Must have a passion for Wyoming and Fremont County History.

Must have 3 years of supervisory experience.

Must have 1+ year of experience in the oversight and compilation of annual budgets, including monitoring of expenses; development of policies and procedures; development and implementation of annual work plans; and managing multiple projects within established timelines.
