Description:
5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is seeking a highly motivated candidate who will provide model-based systems engineering technical contribution and leadership. This position is full-time and requires the ability to successfully work in a team environment. The focus is supported to unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms. The successful candidate must be able to develop and model requirements, create system design models and documentation, utilize, and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements.
This position will interface with internal and external project team members, company personnel, and the customer.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Using MBSE to realize/describe/ analyze complex systems in SysML
- Developing SysML models with emphasis on system decomposition, functions, interfaces, and performance to describe and analyze complex systems and software
- Analyzing customer/stakeholder requirements, decomposing requirements, deriving requirements, and allocating requirements to system and subsystem elements
- Promoting, maturing, and growing the application and use of MBSE for assigned design teams, program, and enterprise
- Developing system-level concept of operation (ConOps), perform functional analysis and decomposition to meet end user needs using MBSE tools and techniques
- Developing operational models using OMG UML Unified Profile for DoDAF/MoDAF (UPDM)
- Developing system architecture for new and existing systems
- Conducting trade studies and performing design research of basic engineering concepts and explorations to determine optimal requirements and system architecture
- Developing test plans and reports and develop test cases based on requirements documentation
- Developing system/subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation
- Leading and conducting testing as applicable
- Working in adherence to structured and defined development processes
- Participating in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex, engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.
- Performing peer reviews of fellow team members’ work
- Reporting project and task status to project tasking lead
- Assisting in preparation of proposals and presentation materials
- Traveling to customer locations as needed (>25% travel may be expected at times)
Experience and Skills:
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Engineering University
- 5 - 10 years of industry experience
- 5+ years with SysML
- Minimum 2 years' experience developing models using No Magic's Cameo Systems Modeler (or similar) conforming to SysML
- A U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher (or the ability to obtain such a clearance if needed)
Required Experience:
- Experience developing system level models, requirements, and architecture in conjunction with engineering team
- Self-directed, sharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment, technical leadership capabilities
- Familiarity with aerospace design and verification processes to include: requirements development, validation and verification for conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, as well as horizontal integrations across the other teams
- Results-oriented, sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
- Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry is a must
- Experience in Aircraft is a must; experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus
