APRRN is a network of more than 240 civil society organisations and individuals in 28 countries, committed to advancing the rights of refugees in the Asia Pacific region. The network is supported by a secretariat. APRRN's activities are structured into key areas of joint advocacy, information sharing and capacity building, and joint advocacy.

Our members are diverse, including service providers, human rights advocacy groups, research institutions, law firms providing pro bono legal aid, refugee community-based organisations, and refugees themselves. Almost all APRRN members are civil society groups working in their specific local contexts, lobbying their governments for changes in laws, policies and practices to protect the rights of refugees.

APRRN’s vision for the Asia Pacific region is one in which all people affected by displacement and statelessness have equal and adequate access to protection, assistance and timely durable solutions as needed. Our goal is to work towards a future in which refugee communities, host communities, civil society, states, UN agencies and other actors collaborate effectively towards the common purpose of effective protection.

TheMembership Support and Communications Consultant provides support to APRRN and its diverse membership. Tasks and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the Personnel Policy, Finance Manual, Code of Conduct and all other regulations applicable to staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Membership Outreach and Support

Relationship Building

  • Proactively reach out to interested or potential members, especially Refugee Led Initiatives (RLIs), to clarify criteria, processes, and other questions regarding APRRN membership and to assist with making applications for membership.
  • Receive and record membership applications and other queries related to membership. Check references and information provided before submitting complete applications to the Membership Sub-Committee for decisions. Communicate Sub-Committee decisions to membership applicants.
  • Facilitate membership induction and information sessions, ensuring all members in the network are informed about APRRN guiding documents, processes, and means of communication.
  • Support members, secretariat staff and APPRN’s governance bodies on questions and issues accessing or updating the APRRN Membership Portal/Database.
  • Compile information and material to ensure up-to-date and relevant membership portal content can be accessed by members.
