The Medical Affairs Manager position will be focused on the assessment of the method of instruction, communication and execution of key medical information, studies, and best practices that best meets the strategic objectives of the Dexcom Medical Science and Communications Team. This position is best described as a balance between a medical communications and instructional design role. The target audience for these communications include internal stakeholders , HCPs, and payers in the diabetes space. This role includes a combination of 1) lead the development, design, and maintenance of medical communication content through a variety of methods in Instructional Technology as well as 2) design and develop the aesthetics, visual design and/or layout of instructional artwork, graphics and digital assets to support and enhance key messages. This role involves 1) working closely with Medical Science/Affairs, Global Access and Commercial Teams to produce impactful, succinct and visually appealing medical communication and education assets to be leveraged across multiple platforms and audiences; 2) Designs education content and assets using the most relevant media (video, eLearning, written instruction, job aids, web content, in-app content, etc.) for HCP and payer audiences. This position will build relationships across the business while leveraging strong project management, time management, organizational & problem-solving skills to support the growing need of Dexcom’s Global Medical Science & Communications Team. This position is full-time & remote.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop both content and graphic instruction/medical communication assets through graphic design, illustration and writing skills.
- Work with cross functional teams to translate product, medical and economic value and features into medical communications through visual design and written content in printed, digital, web and in-app formats. Cross functional teams may include: Regulatory, Global Access, US Market Access, Marketing, Clinical, Medical Affairs, Quality and others as needed.
- Manage all internal and external communications ensuring consistent and engaging messages.
- Ensure simplicity and succinctness in all communications.
- Identify and lead the design and delivery of impactful medical communications that leads to succinct, practical, and clinical or economically sound messaging to support the ongoing application of Dexcom CGM as standard of care with both HCPs and payers.
- Work with agencies or vendors on various projects to develop content, graphics, and medical communication assets for the HCP and/or payer audience. Lead the project scope, development and execution of projects through various agencies and be the content and graphic consultant to the agency to deliver the highest quality work.
- Work with agencies to deliver quarterly success metrics on the impact of medical communication and education materials/programs.
- Manage medical communication agencies to ensure best practices and project execution according to budget and timelines.
- Manage external communication channels.
- Write letters, interdepartmental memos, executive summaries, and other business correspondence.
- Slide development and brand alignment when appropriate.
- Keep up with trends in the field of graphic & instructional design and apply within scope of work.
- Stay abreast of new and emerging clinical evidence, market trends, and developments in diabetes and the CGM category.

Required Qualifications:
- Must be well versed in the diabetes disease state
- Results-oriented, self-disciplined, fast-paced, motivated individual that requires minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail for accuracy of medical and scientific content, and ability to multi-task
- Strong instruction, content and visual design, layout, and typographic skills.
- Translate complicated or detailed aspects of the product and/or clinical research results in a clear, concise manner.
- Expertise in both digital and print file production.
- Effectively collaborate with stakeholders to ensure full alignment of plan, budget, timelines and expectations.
- Proven expertise in instruction/communication development with a portfolio of content, graphic design, illustration, and digital work.
- Continuously seek and support new approaches, practices, and processes to improve the efficiency and efficacy of medical communications.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Work within deadlines and manage multiple projects at one time.
- Build trust and credibility with business partners through regular interaction that is evidenced by feedback and consistent work-product excellence.
