Description:
The Mechanical Reliability Engineer is part of the Reliability team at the mill that is responsible for Reliability Centered Maintenance, systems, for an assigned section of the plant. The engineers on this team support the implementation and maintenance of assets’ mechanical systems, and facilitate failure analyses, for the processes to achieve reliability, availability, cost and functionality goals. The position reports to the Reliability Manager.
- Manage the environmental, safety and health elements needed to meet subject facility policy and targets.
- Provide technical expertise to maintain and improve asset performance for a process area.
- Implement and maintain all functions of mechanical systems and lubrication systems for the process area, working with the maintenance team, operations, and/or engineering.
- Bearing, gearbox and/or lubrication failure analyses, including the forensics and documentation.
- Support the maintenance department in troubleshooting and correcting mechanical issues/problems.
- Work in conjunction with production, maintenance, and engineering in the development and implementation of new maintenance strategies.
- Participate in call rotation for mill wide weekend support team.
- Routine reporting will be required against plans and targets, as well as special reports for non-typical events.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Daily ensure that assigned reports systems are properly equipped for duty, including “toolbox” safety discussions. Resolve any errors or failures either personally or employ assistance of manager, as needed.
- Make report datum updates on a routine basis.
- Coordinate system modifications as required for the reliability of operating assets.
- Monitor area processes to identify potential variability, and report such.
- Participate in daily operational meetings with production and other groups to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Initiate, direct or promote any modifications to mechanical systems that would improve reliability or cost effectiveness of paper manufacturing areas.
- Develop plans for personal growth and improved job performance for self.
- Develop long -term strategies for subject area manufacturing and maintenance organization to align with future goals of the business.
- Promote and create alignment of group and personal goals with the mill and business.
- Daily demonstrate the ability to adapt and overcome obstacles to meeting targets and goals.
Required Qualifications:
- The candidate should have a BS Mechanical Engineering degree. Comparable work experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
- The candidate should have strong analytical and problem solving skills which are demonstrated in personal work history.
- The job requires significant time in the field observing processes and understanding how it is currently being operated, to ensure area reliability.
- Ability to work well and collaborate effectively with a broad set of people regardless of position level or skill set.
- Possess a strong drive and ability to adapt and overcome challenges in order to meet targets.
- A strong aptitude for continued learning and personal growth will be a requirement.
