Description:
The Associate, Marketing Writer is responsible for producing and editing compelling and persuasive content for various marketing channels. This role reports to the Senior Director, Brand & Digital Marketing and will ensure that all marketing materials adhere to LEE's branding guidelines, maintaining consistency in grammar, voice, tone, and style. Collaborating closely with the marketing and communications team, they align content with campaign objectives, target member audience, and overall marketing strategies. They possess the ability to distill complex concepts into easily understood content and conduct research to stay updated on relevant trends and target member preferences.
Responsibilities:
Content Production (50%)
Develop compelling and persuasive original content for a variety of marketing channels, including web, email, social media, blogs, and other digital platforms
Write clear, concise, and engaging copy that effectively communicates key messages and ensures grammar, voice, tone, and style are consistent with LEE’s branding guidelines
Build understanding of LEE’s value proposition and programs as well as marketing strategies, campaign objectives, and target member audience to ensure content aligns with goals
Optimize copy and online content based on internal stakeholder feedback and metrics for clarity, SEO, and accessibility
Distill complex concepts and language into content that is easily understood
Conduct research to gather information on current trends and target member preferences to create relevant and up-to-date content
Collaborate with team members to create cohesive and visually appealing content that enhances the overall marketing message
Content Editing (40%)
Lead review of written communications coming into the Marketing & Communications team
Collaborate with team members to edit content that enhances the overall marketing message
Suggest alternate ways to revise the message based on the target audience
Help create style guides or suggest changes to ensure content is clear and consistent
Special Projects (10%)
Engage in team-level, org-wide, or cross-team special projects as assigned by manager or designee
Provide short-term coverage of other Manager-level duties during a leave, vacancy, or PTO
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience
2+ years of relevant experience in marketing and communications writing
Exceptional writing and editing skills
Aptitude to interpret and apply member personas and journey maps to develop content leading to intended outcomes
Understanding of search engine optimization best practices
Ability to adjust style according to audience, purpose, and channels (e.g., e-mail, web)
Strong, demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, & inclusion
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
