General Information

Marketing Specialists are responsible for the promotion and dissemination of information regarding all University Recreation programs, facilities and services.
This includes the design and implementation of various marketing and communication efforts.

Attendance and active involvement at New Hire and Common (August) Training sessions mandatory.
Attendance and active involvement at staff meetings and in-service training as required.
Average hours per week* (including finals week): 10-12 hours per week

  • Work during break sessions may be a requirement of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • UREC Marketing student employees Motivate Madison Into Motion!
  • 1. Produce and peer-review media related to specialty (social media, photography, videography, writing, graphic design, etc) – requires previous training, experience or certification. SPECIALTY AREA: VIDEOGRAPHY
  • 2. Promote all UREC programs and services through the design and development of recreation marketing/communication materials for the JMU campus community including, but not limited to video content such Instagram Reels, Youtube Videos, Video Wall content…
  • 3. Develop and create video concepts aligned with the UREC brand. Edit video including rough cuts, audio adjustments, color correction using Adobe Creative Suite
  • 4. Attend events and programs, and schedule shoots to capture footage, which includes operating video, audio and light equipment, and interacting with employees and participants. Sort and organize footage for future projects.
  • 5. Assist in the development, writing, and execution of marketing plan(s) for assigned projects. Communicate with Marketing GA and Supervisor throughout semester to determine outcomes, goals, objectives, and concepts. Assist with planning and delivery of training, meetings and team building activities for marketing staff.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Adobe Premier Pro
  • Proficient with camera and audio equipment

Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
