Description:
The Marketing Communications Specialist will powerfully and effectively communicate TechConnect programs and events to partners, the media, and the community at-large. In this role, you will deliver creative solutions, as well as hone your own understanding of the innovation community and its audience to create meaningful outcomes. You are a self-motivated self-starter with marketing chops, outstanding written communication ability, and an unfailingly positive attitude. You play well with others but don’t mind solo work. You ask questions when you’re uncertain and always arrive armed with possible solutions. When asked to take care of a task, you achieve the goal on time and communicate along the way. You’re not careless, but you do hustle. You maintain an organized head and workspace. You are a collaborative team player with the ability to build on the ideas of others and take critical feedback constructively.
Essential Functions
- Work cross-functionally with program managers, event managers, graphic designers, and sales teams to deliver strong marketing campaigns
- Write compelling copy for email, social media, web, and media, maintaining TechConnect’s brand voice
- Support the daily operation of TechConnect’s social channels and media blog sites
- Draft press releases and incorporate feedback
- Assist with database management for email contacts across multiple disciplines
- Oversee partner agreements through execution
- Occasional webinar or panel moderation possible
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or any other related field with 1 year of professional experience executing customer-facing marketing communications campaigns or 2 years of professional experience executing customer-facing marketing communications campaigns.
- Strong written and verbal communication ability
- Social media management experience
- Experience using an email service provider and developing email campaigns
- Ability to break down ambiguous, complex programs, create work streams, and deliver cohesive strategy
- Consummate professional who can be trusted to work remotely and maintain productivity
- Willingness to travel - 5-10% of time annually
- Experience with innovation/commercialization marketing a plus
- Must be a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization, or a green card lawful U.S. permanent resident, or a political asylum in the U.S. Individual must meet the definition of a U.S. person upon hire due to the risk assessment of this position
