Description:
The Market Development Specialist-Events (MDS-Events) reports directly to a Market Development Manager-Events or Director of Market Development. The MDS-Events sits within the Event Center of Excellence on the Global Client Growth team. The team fully produces compelling client-facing events, driven by practice, industry, and in-market initiatives, which generate leads and enhance client and prospect relationships. The MDS-Events position has the responsibility of being a lead executor for assigned event tasks and assumes stakeholder management and critical thinking duties for assigned events. The ideal candidate has professional service firm event planning experience, is a highly motivated, extremely organized, and detail-orientated individual. Attention to detail, sophisticated communication skills, and project management will ensure high quality results. The event team’s mission is, “Drive client and prospect engagement by producing world-class, intentional events with targeted follow up.”
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Part of the planning team executing complex high-level events, e.g., annual client appreciation events, proprietary programs, symposiums, conferences, CLE presentations, roundtables, marque industry conference receptions, and bespoke client entertainment events
- Lead executor for assigned events or event tasks; assume stakeholder management and critical thinking duties for assigned events; oversee deputized events
- Lead communicator and requestor with allied professional teams (i.e. content and graphics teams, IT Video, etc.)
- Project management: Use checklists and timelines for task execution; lead full-scope of assigned tasks
- E-Comms and technology: Review, edit and approve e-communications, IT details (if applicable), and give guidance on platform and format based on event goals
- Approvals and reports: Review, edit, and submit approval forms and post-event reports; track budget; submit invoices; sign contracts, if applicable.
- Coordinating invite lists and list updates with allied professional groups
- Track attendees for audience development
- Offer ideas on follow up tactics based on event type; share client look up results with key stakeholders
- Provide feedback and insights for building out best practices and process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure applicable events are marketed most effectively which could include: a media plan including social media posts, press releases, posting event on website, collateral production, etc.
- Assist in the mentoring, training, and ongoing development of event team members
- Undertake other projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Minimum of two years of marketing, business development, and/or event planning experience in a professional services firm or closely related work environment. Experience within a large national or international firm preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of the global marketplace for professional services required.
- Outstanding communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels
- Ability to work independently. Willingness to work hands-on to achieve objectives in an environment with little leverage
- Outstanding project management skills and the ability to juggle competing, shifting priorities
- Some travel required
- Excellent attention to detail and sophisticated communication skills
- Consistent ability to meet deadlines
