Description:

This position manages the Risk Management program, the Emergency Management program, the Hazard Mitigation program, serves as the district Safety Officer, manages insurance related issues and supervises Night Security assistants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Processes auto, property and liability loss reports, claims and implements related systems and procedures. Requests and assembles all support documents needed for processing claims, including police reports, witness statements and other pertinent information related to claims.
  • Acts as the point of contact for litigation, liability and insurance issues; makes recommendations regarding various insurance issues.
  • Manages the District’s student safety, security and risk prevention programs.
  • Coordinates the District Emergency Management Program. Conducts and provides staff training; maintains emergency containers at each location and reports inventory status semi-annually to superintendent. Maintains records of NIMS compliance. Coordinates the district emergency radios including licensing. Conducts monthly emergency phone checks. Processes FEMA claims. Coordinates annual updates of the Incident command systems for each location. Provides ongoing updates on Rapid Responder, school mapping system, including record of monthly emergency drills and annual updates of Incident Command information.
  • Serves as the District coordinator for the safety committee, attends meetings and consults with regulatory agencies to maintain knowledge of current developments and requirements in the field; communicates information to affected parties.
  • Coordinates and assists in Health Department inspections and reports.
  • Assists in Indoor Air Quality investigations.
  • Maintains the Accident Prevention Program and conducts safety orientation for new staff.
  • Oversees hazardous materials and other facility safety activities to ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Acts as the Districts Chemical Hygiene Officer and assists schools with removal of hazardous materials.
  • Supervises and provides direction for the Districts security assistants and assigned staff; recommends employees for hire, trains, disciplines; develops and evaluates staff; assigns and reviews work, approves leaves and vacation.
  • Annually programs new school year calendars and supporting bell schedules in to each flashing school zone light across the district.
  • Oversees all activities related to Emergency Operations and Hazard Mitigation; monitoring of existing FEMA approved Hazard Mitigation Plan and coordination of updates of the plan every five years. Coordinates updates to the High Quality Emergency Operations Plan every two years.
  • Administers the District’s budget for safety and security programs; prepares and maintains related financial records and reports as required; performs data entry for computerization of claims for loss reports as required; performs data entry for computerization of claims for loss reports prepares yearly requirements for claims costs for budgetary purposes.
  • Other safety, insurance, risk, hazard mitigation, emergency management and security related duties as assigned.
