ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This professional level, full-time position reports directly to the President & CEO and includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with companies to affect location decisions. This role requires the ability to work well independently, in a team environment, and in collaboration with organizations.
- Lead the process to identify strategic business issues for the organization.
- Support forecasts and business decisions with objective data, including conducting market, customer, and competitive research, performing financial analysis, and assimilating internal expertise/experience.
- Provide insight to inform and provide leadership in development of strategic plan process and implementation.
- Provide insight to inform and provide leadership in annual review/revision of the organizational metrics, marketing, and strategic plan.
- Mentor local communities and practitioners in their development of strategies for economic development in business recruitment and retention, and community redevelopment activities.
- Develop leading data indicators for local economic activity.
- Support forecasts and business decisions with objective data, including conducting market, customer and competitive research, performing financial analysis and assimilating internal expertise/experience.
- Identify, engage, and influence key business and community leaders to advance the goals of the organization
- Support the organization in business recruitment and development activities through participation in familiarization tours, trade shows, recruitment outreach, and proposal development.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products and Adobe Suite Products
- ESRI ArcGIS Business Analyst or similar GIS application
- IMPLAN or like program
- Knowledge of Salesforce
- JobsEQ or similar product labor market software
- Experience with open-source labor data platforms such as: Data.Census.gov, BLS.gov, FL Commerce Jobs Report, Federal Reserve Economic Data, BEA.gov, etc.
- Must have knowledge of traditional, digital and social media marketing concepts
- Must be detail oriented, with project management and organizational skills
- Must have good business and creative writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Must be a quick learner with a positive attitude
- Conduct research on various business costs, regulatory requirements and financial incentives- related issues (labor force, tax, utilities, quality of life, community/state incentives & real estate).
- Team player who takes initiative
- Must maintain confidentiality of business development projects – leaks can lead to termination
- Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments
- Motivated self-starter with positive, can-do, customer service attitude
- Outreach travel required as needed
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or Public Policy. Master’s Degree is a plus
- The ability to work with limited supervision
- Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through IEDC or IEDC basic coursework leading to certification is a plus
