We're seeking a Learning and Development Manager to drive our learning initiatives into the future. Reporting to the Director, Learning & Development, People Strategy, this position will work closely across leadership levels on the upskilling and reskilling of staff.
This position can be remote anywhere in the U.S.
As a critical hire to our team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs that increase employees' capabilities to embrace artificial intelligence (AI), GenAI, and productivity-enhancing technologies. You'll collaborate with global cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to create effective and engaging learning initiatives that drive digital upskilling across the organization.
As the Learning and Development Manager, you'll lead initiatives that foster professional growth and ensure our team stays current on the latest advancements in GenAI and other technologies. You'll work with a team of experts to design and deliver impactful learning experiences that promote continuous improvement, engage and motivate staff, and ultimately help our organization achieve its goals.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Create engaging content that can be delivered in multi-modal formats including e-learning modules, workshops, and instructor-led sessions.
- Develop and manage learning and development initiatives and programs across AbbVie BTS, with a specific focus on GenAI and other tech-led learning and development initiatives.
- Facilitate learning and promote continuous improvement among staff.
- Engage and motivate individuals and groups to participate in learning programs.
- Solve problems and troubleshoot issues related to learning initiatives.
- Apply adult learning theory and best practices to create impactful learning experiences.
- Utilize technology for learning and development, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and tools.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify learning gaps and opportunities, monitor and evaluate learning program effectiveness, making changes as needed.
- Engage diverse stakeholders through needs assessment, problem-solving, synthesizing findings, and presenting.
- Lead specific components of the BTS Learning & Development programs, including learning, development, training, communications, and policy & procedures.
- Collaborate with internal and external subject matter/content experts, business partners, and vendors to create and design new content, tools, and learning solutions. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of programs.
- Initiate and promote BTS global learning strategy, guidance, and protocols across the organization.
- Develop and execute up-skilling sessions quarterly to increase BTS business acumen and Generative AI knowledge.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 7 years experience OR Masters Degree with 6 years experience OR PhD with 2 years experience is required, in instructional design, training & development or related field.
- Proven and documented understanding of AI concepts, machine learning, and tech led learning.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication, executive presence, interpersonal skills, facilitation and collaboration skills.
- Growth mindset and passionate about creating exceptional learning experiences.
- Effective organization, project-management, time-management, and self-management skills with detail orientation.
- Experience and comfort facilitating high-impact learning sessions.
- Experience working independently and effectively in a matrixed organization with a broad cross-section of people.
- Tenacity to manage complex portfolio projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with growing field of GenAI and functional awareness of Gen AI- use in the workplace.
- Possesses communication skills and demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Strong executive communication, collaboration and influencing skills at a senior level
- Proven track record of getting stuff done and driving adoption
- Ability to perform amid ambiguity
- Self-directed with ability to make correct decisions in their day-to-day activities
- Certifications in AI, or instructional design are a plus.
