Description:
The successful candidate for this role will bring hands-on experience managing complex publishing projects, an aptitude with a variety of content management systems or computer programs, and a sense of personal responsibility for the accuracy of their work while multi-tasking multiple projects that cover a variety of operating procedures and systems. They will have a history working directly with curatorial metadata, both crafting it as a base and its application for creative curation. This role will be deeply focused on developing a tagging taxonomy system, implementing it across multiple teams within the organization, managing its implementation by team members, and consistently maintaining it in order to meet the needs of the ever-changing content library and the merchandising tools utilized to promote it. Being able to balance the technological implementation of tagging with the creative curation utilizing it is essential. To excel in this role, you must be able to set and meet deadlines for publishing large volumes of content, communicate fluently with the teams throughout the company, thrive at the intersection where creative form meets technical function, and consistently strive to improve workflows and processes.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the application of metadata to the Editorial team’s merchandising tactics, prioritizing title discovery, customer value, business growth, and strategic opportunities.
- Ownership of the Editorial team’s curatorial and algotorial curation workflows and operations
- Utilizes metadata tags to manage automated rails on content/genre/brand/collection pages based on the analytics, priority content calendar, feedback from Page Leads, and acute awareness of cultural moments in the market
- Evaluate metadata needs within our content to identify available information that can be utilized for editorial curation
- Collaborate with the Creative Copy & Metadata team to optimize value of metadata being generated by both teams
- Manage operations of editorially controlled metadata with our CMS including tune-in badging, placement tags, and more
- Partner with Planning, Strategy, Product, Technical, and Marketing teams to ensure priorities are accounted for
- Communicate strategy plans with key stakeholders and internal teams, taking input into consideration when programming content developing workflows
- Liaison between Metadata QA, Editorial, Product, Data and Decision Science teams, and other stakeholders to ensure experimental and evergreen metadata enhancements account for impact and opportunities across all teams, managing processes and updates to ensure success end-to-end
- Ideate and collaborate on new product enhancements by defining requirements, advising on operational implementation, testing upon release, and troubleshooting bugs and functionality gaps to successfully deliver products to market
- Review metadata and imagery pipeline, advise the Product and Tech teams on optimization, and helm the implementation of enhancements across the platform
- Support a 24/7 operation responsible for updating content based on performance, programming tactics and events unfolding in real time, working in coordination with the Video Operations, Product, Marketing, Technology, and Customer Support teams in addition to other stakeholders
- Provide additional support for tentpole initiatives including high profile content launches, breaking news events, and marquee sporting events
- Review data to evaluate on platform performance
- Attend weekly Product and Tech workstream meetings as an Editorial representative speaking on upcoming changes, enhancements, features, and issues
- Evaluate incidents to identify immediate solutions and work with the Impact team to escalate issues to the proper departments if necessary
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience working in title operations or publishing at a large-scale editorial, e-commerce, or video service.
- At least 1 year of experience writing, managing, and optimizing metadata
- Preferably 2 years of experience analyzing and categorizing large volumes of content for sorting, classification, and accessible library recognition
- Demonstrable ability to manage an ever-changing content pipeline 7 days a week, as this position will require the ability to occasionally work early mornings, nights, or weekends.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills with the ability to work flexibly across departments as well as manage internal and external partners in a dynamic environment
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple projects
- The ability to oversee project teams and work closely with a variety of other teams.
- Research skills in entertainment trends and ability to incorporate into strategy
- A passion for television, movies, sports, and news.
