Maintenance Technician

Description:

We are actively seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join a leading global packaging company based in Buffalo, New York. This is a direct hire position offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a sign-on bonus. The selected candidate will work on the 3rd shift (10:30 PM - 6:30 AM) and will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial machinery and systems to ensure seamless production operations.

This role is ideal for candidates with 5 to 10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, particularly those who have hands-on expertise with PLC troubleshooting, programming, and evaluation of drives.

Key Responsibilities:
🔧 Perform machine repair and preventative maintenance on PLC systems, controls, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
🛠️ Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, including:

• Printing presses
• Packaging converting equipment
• Laminating equipment
• Material handling equipment
• Slitting equipment

⚡ Promptly diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize production downtime.
📊 Maintain accurate records by completing work orders in the maintenance system.
👷 Support production operations by ensuring all machinery and equipment are maintained to optimal standards.
📚 Interpret work instructions, technical procedures, work orders, and electrical schematics, ensuring accurate diagnosis and repairs.
🤝 Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and enhance maintenance strategies.
⚠️ Enforce and adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety within the workplace.
💡 Proactively identify potential issues and recommend solutions to prevent equipment failures and unplanned downtime.

Requirements:
✅ 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
✅ Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting, programming, and evaluating PLCs and drives.
✅ Experience working with industrial electrical panels, electrical machinery, and motor controls.
✅ Previous experience with printing presses, packaging converting equipment, and slitting equipment is highly desirable.
✅ Strong ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and service manuals.
✅ Proficiency in recognizing equipment issues and taking corrective action proactively.
✅ Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and computer proficiency.
✅ Capable of working independently and in a team environment.
✅ Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends as required.

Compensation & Benefits:
💰 Hourly Rate: $28 - $37 per hour
