Description:
NBCUniversal has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to become a Maintenance Engineer in our Studio Technology department at Telemundo in Fort Lee, NJ. This department supports all of the Studios, Control Rooms, and Technology in a 24/7 capacity at WNJU and reports to the Manager, Technology.
Responsibilities Include
- Provide technical and operational support to the station
- Partner with News and other Operational leadership teams including IT to drive station initiatives and technical growth.
- Responsible for the technical integrity of all WNJU transmission signal and operating facilities including, control rooms, studios, maintenance shops, central transmission, newsgathering and production equipment.
- Ensure all necessary equipment and paperwork are FCC compliant.
- Perform system level troubleshooting of technical facilities, including, but not limited to, control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, routers, live trucks, transmitter, and computer equipment
- Communicate with the production staff to understand and resolve any issues as they arise
- Maintain Preventative Maintenance Schedule on key technical and operational systems such as generators, UPS power systems, transmitters, HVAC, control rooms, studio and CER.
- Perform equipment and systems software installation and updates.
- Maintain station transmitter and microwave equipment.
- Must be willing to work onsite in Fort Lee, New Jersey and New York, NY
- Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Must be able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
- Salary range - 92k-103k
Qualifications
Qualifications
- 3+ years of recent experience in a television broadcast environment or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Knowledge of computer server installation and maintenance.
- Extensive Knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms including Server.
- Proficient with broadcast production systems and software including Ross Overdrive, Miranda Envision, Ross Xpression, Calrec, RTS Adam Intercom Systems, and others.
- Proficient with transcoding technologies such as Telestream
- Solid Understanding of TCP/IP networks and other PC networking technologies.
- Solid understanding of Video over IP systems such as SMPTE 2110.
- Solid understanding of video encoders and compression.
- Solid understanding of television broadcast transmitters and microwave systems including STL
- Understanding of news live vehicles including microwave, KU DVB and KU-IP
- Understanding of digital TV (HD/SDI) as well as core technical/plant facilities.
- Proficient in software-driven broadcast video equipment.
- Proven ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities.
- Proven ability to design in CAD
- Project management experience preferred
- Must be able to work all shifts, overnights, and weekends as necessary
