Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist clients at public service desks; explain library procedures, rules, and service policy.
- Staffs public service desks during weekend and evening hours, performing opening and closing procedures as needed, assists clients with recurring quick information and routine reference questions on general subjects and in the use of basic bibliographic tools, making appropriate referrals for other services.
- Processes records such as acquisition, circulation, and reserve records in support of the access services technical unit.
- Supports collection maintenance by ways of inventorying, labeling, shifting, changing locations electronically, and assisting in weeding procedures.
- Supports programming initiatives across library units and creates library displays.
- Performs routine tasks such as typing, filing, answering phones, scan and print materials, and sorting and distributing mail.
- May prepare orders for supplies and equipment.
- May direct the work of access services student employees during evenings and weekends.
- Understands and abides by the Libraries Personal Communication Responsibilities.
- Communicates appropriately, effectively and positively.
- Plays an active role in staying informed and participating in Libraries and unit meetings, activities and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- High School Graduation or equivalent AND one year of library technical experience or closely related activity, or satisfactory completion of relevant course work OR equivalent education/experience.
