ROLE of the POSITION

This position will be scheduled Sunday through Thursday 3:30 pm to 12:30 am; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

The major purpose of this position is to assist library users at the Lied Library’s Circulation Service Desk and to provide support for circulation services in three branch library locations (Teacher Development and Resources, Architecture Studies, and Music), utilizing a variety of skills. Circulation desk assistance includes providing courteous and professional service to library patrons resolving problems checking out materials to users, explaining policies, answering questions, and making effective referrals. This position is the primary supervisor of daily operations at the Lied Library Circulation desk.

A second major purpose of this position is assisting patrons and library faculty with access to various technologies for short-term loan and working in concert with the Reserves Coordinator to develop consistent policies regarding circulation of short-term loan items.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of customer service experience in a library or other cultural heritage institution; OR one year of experience as a Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of current trends in technology usage
  • Experience training individuals on various technologies
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word/Excel), Google products (e.g. Docs/Sheets/Gmail)
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
