Lead Network Engineer

Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Network Engineer to join our brand new, state of the art laboratory. As a Lead Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the access space of our end-to-end laboratory network. You will work with our team of engineers on developing and conducting test cases to identify issues and verify new products and firmware updates meet our standards for deployment.

As Lead Network Engineer you will have the following responsibilities:
 

  • Work with the lab team on developing and running test cases.
  • Conduct testing on customer premise equipment in the lab.
  • Conduct automated and manual testing on new products and firmware loads.
  • Work with the Laboratory manger on developing key milestones.
  • Support lab need in building out test beds, racking equipment, and finding new efficiencies.
  • Work cross-functionally with other team members across all network sectors.
  • Provide readouts of test results and root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with vendors on solutions, bug fixes, and new products and firmware releases.
  • Assist in developing and maintain standards and guidelines to preserve test integrity.
  • Discover new innovations to improve the lab and Brightspeed as a whole.
  • Assist with testing of additional devices as needed.

     

This position is for the Kansas City Metro Area and requires onsite reporting.

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree, or relevant experience.
  • Experience with CPE including residential gateways, routers, ONTs, and Wi-Fi products.
  • Must be able to collaborate with a diverse team of individuals.
  • Experience with a variety of vendors: Calix, AXON, Zyxel, Technicolor
  • Experience with trouble isolation and root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of the 802.11 standards
  • Knowledge of TR-69 and TR-143
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of team members, managers, and subject matter experts with strong presentation skills.
  • Adaptive learner with excellent written & verbal communication and analytical/critical thinking skills
  • Solid organizational skills, and ability to cope with deadlines.
