Description:
The Landscape Architect Project Manager is part of the award-winning Park Development Division within the Department of Parks and Recreation. This position is responsible for developing designs for parks, playgrounds, shelters, dog parks, trails, garden renovations, stormwater management facilities, athletic court, field renovations and other recreational facility designs.
Specific duties include:
- Managing, designing, and coordinating the renovation of park recreational facilities;
- Facilitating complex civic engagement processes, developing civic engagement plans, and coordinating outreach activities with public relations unit to develop successful community engagements;
- Preparing request for proposals (RFP) and managing multiple design consultants including landscape architecture, engineering, and architectural professionals;
- Delivering project presentations to community groups, various commissions, and the County Board;
- Developing and preparing construction documents, including drawings and specifications;
- Updating park design standards and specifications;
- Preparing project cost estimates, tracking expenditures, and managing images using various graphic software;
- Coordinating projects through the permit reviews process and collaborating with construction managers to ensure construction projects adhere to specifications and drawings;
- Preparing bid documents and coordinating projects during the bidding process, reviewing bids, and selecting contractors; and
- Providing technical assistance and advice to the Department, commissions, and the public regarding public space designs.
The ideal candidate will have strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and on a team, including being detail oriented, creative, and an analytical problem solver with a passion for public service.
Minimum:
- Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Forestry, Urban Planning, or related field; and
- Two (2) years of experience in landscape design or related field.
