Description:
Our client, a rapidly growing boutique real estate company in NYC, is seeking their first internal accounting hire to collaborate closely with the Head of Asset Management. The ideal candidate must be a CPA and have extensive experience in real estate or construction accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle daily accounting for various real estate transactions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, including journal entries and GL analysis.
- Manage cash flow forecasting for properties, including major repairs and capital improvements.
- Prepare and review capital calls, distribution allocations, and maintain partner capital accounts.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and calculate revenues such as management fees, carried interest, and incentive fees.
- Conduct financial statement analysis for internal management and partner reporting.
- Develop and improve financial reporting templates and analysis using Excel and Yardi.
- Work with investment and asset management teams on internal and investor reporting.
- Track property-specific deadlines, including tax, insurance, and lender reporting.
- Review loan documents, partnership agreements, regulatory agreements, and closing statements.
- Support acquisition and disposition due diligence processes.
- Maintain effective communication with investors, lenders, property managers, and tenants.
Required Qualifications:
- CPA designation is mandatory (Candidates without a CPA will not be considered).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Real Estate or Construction Accounting.
- Strong team collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CCIP/OCIP project administration and analysis.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
- Familiarity with Yardi and other real estate financial tools.
