Description:

The Lawn Care Intern to Owner (Field Operations) will work closely with the owner of a lawn care business to gain practical experience and hands-on exposure to the field operations of the business. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of lawn care practices, equipment operation, and field management, with the goal of preparing the intern for potential future roles as a business owner or field operations manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Field Work:

Engage in hands-on fieldwork, participating in lawn care activities such as mowing, edging, trimming, and pesticide application.

Learn and implement proper lawn care techniques and practices under the guidance of the owner.

 

Equipment Operation:

Operate and maintain lawn care equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and blowers.

Assist in routine equipment checks and minor repairs.

 

Quality Control:

Work closely with the owner to ensure the quality of lawn care services meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Participate in inspections and learn to identify and address issues related to lawn health.

 

Customer Interactions:

Accompany the owner during customer visits and interact with clients to understand their specific needs and preferences.

Learn effective communication and customer service skills.

 

Scheduling and Routing:

Assist in scheduling and routing tasks to optimize field operations.

Learn how to plan efficient routes and manage time effectively.

 

Training and Skill Development:

Participate in training sessions to enhance technical skills related to lawn care practices.

Learn about new industry trends, technologies, and sustainable practices.

 

Problem Solving:

Shadow the owner in addressing on-site challenges and problem-solving.

Gain experience in making quick decisions to ensure efficient field operations.

 

Safety Compliance:

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork.

Learn about safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment for the team.

Documentation:

Assist in maintaining accurate records of field activities, including services provided, equipment usage, and customer feedback.

Learn to use relevant software tools for documentation and reporting.

 

Qualifications:

 

Enthusiastic about a career in lawn care and field operations.

Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.

Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Effective communication skills.

Basic knowledge of lawn care practices is a plus.
