Description:
As an Interior Designer on our team, you will play a pivotal role in executing all aspects of the interior design process. Collaborating closely with our Principals, clients, admin staff, consultants, and vendors, you will be responsible for translating visions into reality by conceptualizing, planning, and implementing exceptional design solutions.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong design sense, problem-solving mindset, excellent graphic skills, organizational ability, consistent time management, and a "get things done" attitude. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the ability to work productively, collaboratively, and harmoniously within a small team.
Responsibilities by Project Phase (include but are not limited to):
Pre-Design (PD)
- Field surveys & documentation
- Project kick-off & onboarding to understand project needs & goals, including reviewing client questionnaire and Pinterest boards
Schematic Design (SD)
- Sourcing of inspiration for overall look & feel and palette direction
- Concepting of initial design ideas based on project goals, needs, and client design style preferences
- Assist in preparation of SD deliverables, including Look & Feel boards and SD plans
- Supporting the design team during client meetings, i.e., taking notes (note: applies to all project phases)
Design Development (DD) & Construction Documentation (CD)
- Source and research FF&E products, including finishes, fixtures, lighting, furniture, floor coverings, hardware, accessories, etc., in alignment with project needs and GTLA’s design vision. Note: Sourcing will include online research as well as local showroom visits.
- Draft floor plans, renderings, elevations, and lighting/electrical plans in AutoCAD
- Produce DD presentation materials using AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Google Slides
- Correspond with vendors to obtain product specifications as well as pricing and lead-time information
- Generate specifications database per project in Google Sheets, which will be referenced in producing the FF&E Materials Budget and Construction Documents
Construction Administration (CA) & Design Implementation
- Periodic site visits at key construction milestones to ensure site progress aligns with GTLA’s design intent
Procurement
- Prepare FF&E Materials Budget in Google Sheets for client approval
- Coordinate with vendors to request quotes, place orders, follow-up, and organize delivery and install at site
- On-going management of FF&E Materials Budget in Google Sheets & IVY to ensure that project is on budget
- Site visits with vendors for any custom, made-to-order products such as millwork and countertops
- Manage on-site installation of all items procured by GTLA, including coordination with warehouse team, delivery team, and contractor team
- Collaborate with design assistant, Principals, and accountant for post-install reconciliation of FF&E Materials Budget
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture
- 2-4 years of professional architectural and/or interior design experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Slides, Docs) - Knowledge of Revit is a plus!
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with reliable access to a vehicle for site visits, showroom runs, and errands to support the needs of the firm
