Instructional Coordinator

Instructional Coordinators at NMMSH work with learners of all ages to excite them about the history, current operations, and bright future of worldwide space exploration. By conducting tours, teaching classes, doing Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) outreach programs onsite and throughout the region, developing and producing social media productions, creating and presenting films and astronomy star shows in our permanent and portable planetariums, and participating in events throughout the region that showcase the exciting opportunities for everyone in space exploration and the STEM fields. The position works with the Education Director and three other educators to continuously execute and improve the Museum's education offerings.

Reporting directly to the Education Director, the Instructional Coordinator will develop and execute a wide range of educational outreach programs both on and off site; develop programs and curriculum to help demonstrate astronomy, space exploration and STEM topics; create and present star shows in our permanent and portable planetariums; give tours of the Museum; operate the dome theatre projection system to present giant screen and astronomy-themed films; and develop and create social media presentations for a worldwide audience.
Major work elements are Curriculum Development, Program Presentation; Science Demonstrations; Projection Operation; and Tours and Lectures to learners of all ages. As part of the Education Team, the incumbent will actively contribute to realization of the Museum's mission and vision.
