Jeffersonville is now accepting applications for a Collection Systems Construction Inspector with the Wastewater Department. Applicants must have a High School Diploma/GED. Must have at least five (5) years’ experience in the construction industry with working knowledge of construction techniques and inspection requirements. Must also have a working knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to construction, inspection, safety and traffic control; considerable knowledge of public works inspection methods. Strongly prefer construction experience in public works projects. Equivalent education, training, experience, skills, and knowledge may be considered. Position Summary: Inspects, monitors and approves all waste water department construction projects performed by City personnel and/or 3rd party contractors to ensure all work performed is done within project specifications and regulatory agencies’ requirements. Construction inspection projects include, but are not limited to: construction and installation of streets, curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm drains, sewers; inspection of manholes, backflow prevention devices, cross-connection violations, new construction related to sewer taps; repairs to existing sewer lines related to laterals/main lines construction; installation of sewer lines; inspection of work under excavation, clearing and grading permits; and inspection of old lines and newly annexed sewer lines. This position requires being available on a 24/7 basis, due to the unforeseen problems that may arise.
