Description:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing a wide variety of HR related duties while working closely with HR leadership. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment/employment, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation and employment law compliance.
This position reports to the Global Director of Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Human Resources point of contact for the assigned employee population.
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel.
- Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
- Participates in developing department and site goals, objectives, and systems.
- Supports the annual performance review and compensation process.
- Performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, drafting paperwork and tracking of medical leave of absence (FMLA, STD), approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefits information to employees.
- Manages the STD & LTD leaves and the unemployment process.
- Partners with the global HR team to help leaders forecast, plan, and acquire key talent in support of the overall business strategies and operating plans.
- Conducts full life cycle recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel, interns, and temporary employees; assists with new-employee orientation.
- Conducts investigations as necessary; recommends approaches and solutions for employee-related situations.
- Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviews.
- Active participant in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
- Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports as needed.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
- Execute other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to travel when required.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in HR Management.
- 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience Or 7 years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience in Manufacturing and Global HR experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, and the ability to apply employment laws when applicable to various employee situations.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications & HRIS systems including benefit and applicant tracking systems (Paylocity preferred).
- Knowledge of technical trends including but not limited to HR systems and the use of social media and mobile applications.
- Experience with data analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage process change initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience in providing proactive solutions to human resource issues.
- Enjoy working on a Global HR team as well as being self-directed and able to complete projects independently.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and business acumen.
