In January of 2020, the school unveiled a 5-year strategic plan, BluePrint125 a product of extensive internal investigation and collaborative discussion among the Schools many constituents. In recent years, the School has made significant investments in campus upgrades to improve energy efficiency, air quality, and public safety. Other major campus enhancements have included the creation of flexible, multi-functional learning spaces in the areas of performing arts, athletics, and technology. Position Summary Bancroft School is seeking a part-time Human Resources Director to join our dynamic Business Office Team. The Human Resource Director is responsible for leading and implementing human resource initiatives, supporting education objectives, and driving a diverse range of strategic HR efforts including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, retention, employee engagement, and leadership initiative alignment. Overall, the position formulates partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added service to leadership and employees that reflects the strategic objectives of the School. This is an on-campus part-time position, 20-30 hours per week, which reports to the Director of Finance & Operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Annually review and make recommendations for improvement of the Schools policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure Schools compliance
  • Responsible for all payroll administration
  • Manage the annual 403(b) audit
  • Work with the Head of School & DFO to review, prepare and administer the Schools wage and salary program
  • Responsible for benefits administration (group health, dental, long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending plans, 403(b) plan, workers compensation
  • Communicate changes in personnel policies/handbooks and procedures and ensure proper compliance is followed
  • Conduct new employee orientations to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions
  • Consult with legal counsel as appropriate on personnel matters
  • Work closely with senior administration and leadership on personnel issues
  • Participate in performance improvement meetings with employees
  • Perform job analysis and write job descriptions
  • Assist with recruiting for internal positions
  • Act as liaison between employees and insurance providers to resolve benefit related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations
  • Administer FMLA

Core Qualifications & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • Professional certification (SHRM, PHR) a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a managerial role
  • Working knowledge of human resource principles, procedures and practices
  • Independent school experience preferred
  • Team builder and leader qualities
  • Effective communicator at all levels
  • High degree of business acumen and people acumen
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and group presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively deal with multiple priorities, functions and activities
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, HR Systems, and Payroll
