Human Resources Consultant

 

Description:

In this position you will provide HR leadership and contribute to the advancement of the DOC’s mission and objectives by performing a variety of advanced professional personnel management functions and services. The position provides HR consultation in support of a Regional Human Resources Director to administer the functional responsibilities of the department.

You will serve as a business partner with executive management, directors, supervisors and managers, outside agency partners and with labor union representatives and leaders. You will be responsible for consulting, advising and recommending solutions to employees and management on a range of employee relations matters such as:

  • Performance management
  • Labor Relations
  • Bargaining unit contract, legal, and policy compliance
  • Conducting investigations and responding to grievances
  • Developing and leading HR trainings

Applicants may primarily telework but should expect to perform some work at the human resources office within the Minnesota Correctional Facility – MCF Moose Lake.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional human resources experience demonstrating expertise and skill in labor relations and consultation including several of the following areas: contract/pay plan interpretation, grievance administration, performance management, conducting employment investigations, developing/conducting training´s, and policy development/revision.

A bachelor’s or advanced degree in Human Resources or a related degree program, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Psychology, and Organizational Behavior, may substitute for one year of either experience requirement described above.
