Marathon Petroleum Company is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Assistant within the HR Department. The HR Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the HR functions of the Canton and Detroit Refinery HR Department, focusing on various HR tasks and providing overall assistance to both locations.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and internet research skills, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality in handling all HR matters.
This position reports directly to the HR Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the HR Manager and HR team at our Canton and Detroit Refineries.
- Collaborate with IT to digitize forms and automate processes wherever possible for better workflow efficiencies.
- Assist with handling Workday processes in addition to running reports; collect, input, generate, review, and analyze HR-related data.
- Point of contact for new hires in addition to preparing for site new employee orientation process along with managing the onboarding and offboarding process.
- Assist with administrative duties related to Labor Relations matters to include properly filing grievances, taking meeting minutes, and with overall assistance related to negotiation preparation.
- Support HR Business Partners (HRBPs) with hiring hourly employees by posting requisitions and facilitating related processes.
- Create and modify (often confidential) documents using word, excel, and/or other presentation software.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to include scheduling meetings, maintaining office supplies, maintaining office upkeep, coordinating site-wide announcements along with all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum five (5) - seven (7) years of Administrative Assistant experience, required, with at least two (2) - three (3) years of HR Administration experience highly preferred.
- Two (2) or more years supporting DEI initiatives is highly preferred.
- SharePoint, Microsoft Forms, and Workday experience is highly preferred.
Skills:
- Proficiency with the current Microsoft Office suite to include excellent keyboarding skills and familiarity with mainframe software applications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle various projects with varying degrees of priorities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work with confidential information while supporting multiple individuals daily.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
