Hospital Admitting Registered Nurse

Guidehouse is hiring a Hospital Admitting Registered Nurse (Night Shift) on a part-time basis at MLK Hospital. The role focuses on facilitating patient medical and financial clearance, using clinical judgment and nursing knowledge. This is a night shift position (12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM) with a rotating fixed schedule that includes every other Saturday, Sunday, and rotating holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Use medical acceptance criteria to screen Emergency Room patients for optimal patient access operations.

• Perform clinical reviews of inpatients to determine medical acceptance, following the Miliman guidelines.

• Communicate with patients, physicians, and clinical staff to address obstacles to access or financial clearance.

• Respond to voicemails and phone calls promptly.

• Document communications with payors, patients, and the treatment team accurately.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (Graduation from an accredited school of nursing).

• California Professional Nursing License (RN).

• Minimum 4 years of related experience, with at least 2 years in nursing or 1 year in utilization review/insurance/case management/medical clearance.

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

• Strong proficiency in computer skills, including office machines and basic keyboard skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in utilization review with external payors in a hospital or insurance setting.

• Highly organized, with strong communication skills.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
