Our client, a family-owned business with over 20 years of industry experience, is seeking a talented Heavy Civil Estimator to join their dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Analyze company data, exchange rates, and prices using software packages.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and submit them within the specified timelines.
Essential Job Functions
- Utilize industry knowledge and expertise to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on project quality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current construction market trends, materials, and labor costs.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure accurate and timely bid submissions.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and industry events to network and gather information for bid preparations
Skills
- 5 - 10 years of experience in heavy civil estimating or a related field.
- Proficient in analyzing company data and utilizing software packages for estimates.
- Solid understanding of construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders.
