This an amazing opportunity to join an exciting Energy Trading & Storage Start-Up focused on the development, construction, and operation of battery energy storage (BESS) assets in wholesale electricity markets.

They are looking for a motivated and experienced Head of Data Science to lead all data analytics, machine learning initiatives and applications development to lead the build-out of their automated platform to support its growing portfolio of energy storage assets. This position will manage a team of data scientists and promote a culture of continuous collaboration, innovation and improvement.

Qualifications:

• Post-graduate degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or some other quantitative discipline), plus 7+ years of experience in data analytics, machine learning, or related roles, preferably in the energy industry

• Knowledge of electricity market concepts and market design, including ISO market frameworks and power market trading fundamentals

• Deep understanding and practical experience in machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling

• Advanced knowledge of software platforms & processes designed for managing large databases and model engineering (e.g. MLOps) along with demonstrated experience in managing a team of data scientists

• Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing a diverse and remote-based team

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

• Encourages and thrives in a highly-collaborative environment with an ability to combine individual and team goals within the context of higher-level business objectives and targets

• High comfort level with small teams & organizations, with the curiosity and enthusiasm to innovate and formulate new ideas and to bring the best out of co-workers
