Description:
This role will support the State Department’s Service Delivery and Outreach (SDO) Division within the Office of Consular Systems and Technology. The purpose of our mission is to provide training, deployment, and communication services to all domestic and overseas consular operations, including passport agencies and visa centers. SDO is responsible for cross-cutting functions that have an enterprise-wide impact.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install and configure application software for classified and unclassified desktop and laptop computer systems including peripheral equipment.
- Plan, coordinate, provide operational maintenance for software loading and upgrades for office applications and Windows 7/10, SUN Solaris™, UNIX, and LINUX or later software.
- Determine cost effective equipment techniques and sources used in support of PC computers (Windows 7/10, SUN Solaris™, UNIX, and LINUX or later based computer platforms).
- Analyze and isolate classified and unclassified computer hardware problems.
- Install, test, modify, upgrade, and trouble shoots classified and unclassified computers and peripherals connected in a networking environment.
- Assist in establishing standard configuration environment files for the different multi-vendor computer platforms networked together.
- Digitize images into databases for preservation and enhancement by imaging software.
- Use hardware and software to fine-tune original digital image for color and resolution and perform quality assurance.
- Store digital image files on various digital media.
- Maintain records of workflow, image creation and storage of digital files
Basic Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in Information Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making.
- Commensurate experience and education.
