Graphic Designer Artist

 

Description:

The Graphic Designer Artist, develops and designs communication and marketing collateral for Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), including graphic design needs relating to branding, printed materials, direct mail, signage, banners, and various communication/presentation templates. Serve as a lead designer for specific DAR initiatives/teams, such as its first comprehensive philanthropic campaign, annual giving, donor and alumni relations, etc.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the director of development communications, plan, design, and execute a range of graphic design products to support DAR priorities. Produce marketing products for annual giving, donor relations, special events, alumni relations, gift & estate planning, corporate & foundation relations, endowment services, and university initiatives projects. Participates in design critiques by sharing work for approval, capturing feedback, and revising to deliver an approved solution on-time.
  • Maintain consistency of brand and messaging across all development communications, printed materials, direct mail campaigns, and templates. Contribute new ideas while incorporating UTA’s style and branding guidelines. In partnership with DAR leadership, the director of development communications, and various campus partners, serve as a lead designer and brand manager for UTA’s first-ever comprehensive philanthropic campaign.
  • Working closely with members of the Development Communications team, manage multiple projects and adhere to production schedules. Use project management tools, including Smartsheet and Microsoft Teams, to keep projects organized and to communicate with the Development Communications team and other project partners. Must take individual responsibility for creating and delivering pieces as assigned in a timely manner and of a high quality.
  • Work with outside vendors and/or offices across campus to create materials for fundraising and alumni and donor engagement. Assist in identifying photography, logos, and other visual needs for vendors. Review vendor and unit materials to ensure they align with UTA brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in graphic design, creative design, marketing design, communications or related field, or related equivalent work experience.
  • Three to five (3 – 5) years of relevant graphic design or related experience, supported by a portfolio of design samples, as requested.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with design software (Adobe Creative Suite) for layout, illustration, graphics, photo manipulation, and file transfer systems; knowledge of the printing process and delivering of finished materials.
  • Experience working with writers, photographers and/or other creatives to produce marketing materials.
