Description:
The Graphic Designer will join a passionate team at the Field Museum, working to position the Field as a must-see destination, and as a forward-thinking scientific leader. Reporting to the Marketing & Advertising Director, the Graphic Designer will work closely with members of the Marketing team, including Advertising, Digital, and PR, and across the museum to promote the Field’s mission, exhibitions, public programs, partnerships, and scientific work to our core audiences through compelling visual storytelling.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Graphic Design & Visual Content Creation: Design posters, flyers, brochures, digital banners, social media graphics, and more to promote exhibitions, events, programs, as well as revenue-generating areas of the Museum
- Provide cross-departmental brand communication support for executing marketing strategies for areas across the Museum, such as Business Enterprises, Institutional Advancement, and Visitor Services
- Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the Museum’s brand identity with cohesive and consistent design
- Be a Brand Ambassador! With the rest of the Marketing team, help manage cohesive messaging across the institution and review all communication materials to align with brand standards
- Help manage relationships and budgets with external designers as needed and ensure brand consistency with external vendors
- Manage the Museum’s brand identity and its executive across channels inside and outside the Museum
- Digital Engagement: Craft engaging visuals for the Museum’s website, email newsletters, and social media platforms to boost online engagement
- Manage brand standard approval process and oversight of the Brand Center including DAM organization, metadata, uploading and maintaining assets, rights and credit lines, user roles and permissions, and CMS updates
- Management of key development timelines for support for graphics campaign development, including overseeing project timelines for planning, development, and implementation
- Organize licensing team meetings and respond to requests for licenses of visual assets, work with the PR/Legal team, and process payments
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, fine arts, or a related field, or 3 to 5 years equivalent experience
- Design Proficiency: Proven experience as a graphic designer with a diverse portfolio. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and Canva
- Creative Skills: Ability to create original artwork and illustrations using industry-standard graphics software on a Mac-based platform.
- Video editing/production and/or photography skills would be a plus
