Description:

Journalism:

• Manages the production of a 112 page Jostens yearbook from creation to publication & distribution.
• Photographs and gathers photographs of all grade levels, activities, and sports teams.
• Publishes student news articles to the student news website: cougarprideAVL.com
• Teaches photography skills to students in grades 6-8
• Teaches basic design skills to students in grades 6-8
• Teaches best practices for writing nonfiction articles

Graphic Design:

• Teaches various web-based art apps to students in grades 6-8
• Teaches basics of digital art and graphic design such as: digital drawing and painting, logo design, web based art portfolio design, poster design, infographics, basic drawing skills, and more.
• Also teaches basics of color theory and other art principles such as shape, line, texture, etc.

Skills a Teacher should have:

Familiar with DSLR cameras (like the Canon Rebel)

Photography experience

Knowledge of yearbook production with Jostens Yearbook Avenue is preferred

Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology

Basic art and design ability

Experience with social media and marketing is a plus
